Mission and aims

St Gregory’s church mission

We are a Salesian-led Catholic community in Bollington, which aims to help people: know the love of God; grow as disciples of Jesus; go out and share God’s love with others

Strategic aims and goals

Faith: liturgy, worship and spiritual development

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:20

Develop and implement programmes to revitalise and increase participation in the liturgy and the celebration of mass (altar servers, readers, Eucharistic ministers, hospitality ministers, choir)

Determine ways to attract youth and young adults to church and involve them in church ministries to increase a sense of belonging and provide an opportunity to grow in faith

Encourage parental involvement in sacramental programmes, junior and little church and other family-focused faith initiatives to help parents in their role as the primary teachers of the faith

Offer spiritual renewal opportunities that deepen people’s experience of God in their lives and actively promote involvement in faith education events from the diocese and neighbouring parishes

Expand our faith-sharing/prayer groups within the parish as an aid to spiritual development, fellowship and service

Community: parish, schools, Savio House

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12

Enhance parish life through a programme of social and fundraising events

Develop programmes for social support across all generation (for example: young families, sick and housebound, bereaved)

Work in partnership with our schools and Savio House to ensure opportunities for socialising and fellowship are advertised and shared amongst us to promote stronger ties and co-operation

Parish administration: maintenance, policy and communication

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace. 1 Peter 4:10

Support the needs of parish staff and volunteers through training and development opportunities

Plan the maintenance, updating and renovation of our parish facilities so that they support our needs in the short- and long-term within our parish budget

Update, develop and implement parish policies and procedures ensuring the highest ethical standards especially in the areas of safeguarding, data protection and financial management

Develop and utilise multiple communication channels to enable parish-wide awareness of key information, activities, and successes
